# Install a shared build on iPhone

An iPhone can offer over-the-air installation of an **eligible IPA**. The AppBarn **Install** button starts Apple's installation process. It does not guarantee success.

## Prerequisites

- An iPhone with network access and a valid AppBarn Share Link, or signed-in access to the Build.
- A ready `.ipa` with **Install** shown on its page.
- A valid Apple signature and provisioning profile that allows this device and distribution method. For Ad Hoc distribution, the device must be registered in the profile. Enterprise distribution must follow the organisation's device policy.

## Steps

1. Open the AppBarn Build page on the **iPhone**, preferably in Safari.
2. Confirm the app identifier, version and source are expected.
3. Tap **Install**. Follow any iOS confirmation or management prompts.
4. Look for the app icon or installation progress on the Home Screen.
5. Open the app when installation finishes. Follow any trust or device-management steps required by the issuer and iOS.

If **Install** is missing, AppBarn cannot offer OTA for that IPA. **Download** may remain available for authorised distribution tools.

## Expected result

iOS accepts the signed IPA and installs the app. AppBarn's Install button only means it can issue a short-lived installation manifest; the device may reject it.

## Common failures

| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
| --- | --- | --- |
| No **Install** button | IPA ineligible, unknown or profile expired | Ask for a properly signed eligible IPA |
| Share page unavailable | Link expired, revoked or Build unavailable | Ask for a new Share Link |
| Installation cannot be completed | Device excluded from profile, signature mismatch, expired certificate or device policy | Check signing and provisioning with the app developer |
| Nothing happens after tapping **Install** | Browser blocked the handoff; ticket expired | Reopen the Build page in Safari and request **Install** again |
| Installed app cannot be opened | iOS trust, certificate or organisation policy | Follow the developer or administrator's instructions; do not bypass managed-device policy |

Do not reuse a saved OTA manifest or install ticket. AppBarn issues short-lived tickets on demand.
