Install a shared build on Android
AppBarn provides APK downloads for Android installation. An AAB is download-only and cannot be installed directly by tapping it.
Prerequisites
- An Android device, a valid AppBarn Share Link or signed-in Build access, and a trusted
.apk. - Device or organisation settings that allow installing this app.
Steps
- Open the AppBarn Build page on your Android device.
- Confirm the app identifier, version and source are expected.
- Tap Install or Download. Both retrieve the APK. AppBarn does not install it remotely.
- Open the downloaded APK through the Android notification or file manager.
- Review the Android prompt. If Android blocks this source, allow installation from that browser or file manager only if you trust the build and device policy permits it.
- Complete Android's installation prompt.
For an .aab, use Download and pass the bundle to a compatible development or distribution tool. AppBarn does not convert AAB files into APKs.
Expected result
Android accepts the APK and the installed app appears in the launcher. Installation may still fail due to device policy, operating-system requirements or signing conflicts.
Common failures
| Symptom | Action |
|---|---|
| Share page unavailable | Request a new link. The original may be expired, revoked or tied to a deleted Build |
| Install was blocked | Check the Android prompt, source permission and device policy |
| App not installed | Ask the developer to verify the APK signature, existing installation and Android compatibility |
| Only Download for AAB | Expected. AAB files are not directly installable |
Never disable device-wide security controls to install an untrusted file.
